Switching from D-2 to D-10 Visa in South Korea: Complete Step-by-Step Guide
9/20/2026

For international students graduating from bachelors, master, or vocational programs in South Korea, one of the most critical next steps is transitioning from the D-2 (Student Visa) to the D-10-1 (Job Seeker Visa). In this guide, we break down the eligibility rules, point system, necessary paperwork, and submission timeline.
1. Who is Eligible for a D-10 Visa?
- Graduates holding an official degree from an accredited university or college (minimum 2-year program) in South Korea;
- Foreign nationals maintaining lawful immigration status with no serious immigration violations.
Important Note: You can only apply once your official graduation certificate is issued. An expected graduation certificate is strictly not accepted.
2. The Point System & Exemptions
The standard D-10 visa is assessed using a 190-point evaluation system:
- Key Requirement: You must obtain at least 20 points from the core sections (Age + Education) and reach an overall minimum score of 60 points.
- Scoring Criteria:
- Age: 20–29 years (10–15 pts), 30–34 years (20 pts);
- Education: Associate/Bachelor (15–20 pts), Master’s (20 pts), Ph.D. (30 pts);
- Domestic Degree Bonus: Additional points for holding degrees from Korean institutions;
- Korean Proficiency (TOPIK / KIIP): 5 to 20 points depending on level.
- Point System Exemption: Graduates holding a Bachelor's degree or higher from a Korean university with an active TOPIK Level 4+ (or KIIP Level 4–5) are exempt from the point calculation and can transition directly.
3. Visa Validity and Extension Limits
Total Score | Single Grant Period | Maximum Extension Limit |
60 – 79 points | 6 months | Up to 1 year (maximum 2 extensions) |
80+ points | 6 months | Up to 2–3 years (activity report required every 6 months) |
4. Required Documents Checklist
- Application & Personal IDs:
- Integrated Application Form;
- Original & copy of Passport and Alien Registration Card (ARC);
- Passport photo (3.5Г—4.5 cm, white background, taken within 6 months);
- Government fee: 100,000 KRW (visa change) + 30,000 KRW (new ARC).

- Action Plan & Financial Proof:

5. Application Procedure
- Book an Appointment: Reserve a visit slot via HiKorea at your jurisdictional immigration office well ahead of your graduation date.
- Submit Documents: Attend your appointment in person with the complete application packet.
