E-8 Visa for Agriculture: New Opportunities for Uzbeks
Recently, news about the South Korean E-8 (seasonal worker) visa has been widely discussed on social media and in the labor migration sector. In this article, we will provide detailed information about this visa type, its advantages and the application procedure.
What is an E-8 Visa?
The E-8 visa is a short-term permit introduced to cover South Korea's need for seasonal labor in the agricultural and fishing sectors. This visa is usually issued for a period of up to 5 months and is mainly activated during the harvest period.
Basic Requirements for Candidates
Although the E-8 visa has slightly lighter requirements than the E-9 (EPS) visa type, it has its own criteria:
Age limit: Citizens aged 25 to 45 (50 in some areas) are usually accepted.
Health: Physical fitness and absence of chronic diseases (medical examination is mandatory upon entry into Korea).
Experience: Having initial experience in the agricultural sector (farming, greenhouse work) is an advantage.
Language proficiency: Unlike the EPS system, the E-8 visa may not require a high-level Korean language certificate (TOPIK), but a basic level of conversation may be requested during the interview process.
Advantages of the E-8 Visa
1. Short-term planning: The ability to return to work within 5 months without being tied to a long-term contract.
2. Fast processing: The visa application process is faster than other work visas.
3. Experience exchange: The opportunity to learn modern Korean agricultural technologies.
4. Korean wages: The wages are paid in an amount not lower than the minimum wage (hourly) established by Korean law.
How is the Job Placement Procedure?
Currently, there are two main ways to send an E-8 visa to work:
1. Intergovernmental Agreement (MOU): Direct cooperation between specific regional/city khokimiyats of Uzbekistan and district (gun) khokimiyats of Korea.
2. Foreign Labor Migration Agency: All processes are under the control of this official organization.
Beware of Scammers!
Due to the high demand for seasonal work, there are cases where various unofficial individuals or dubious agencies mislead people with "100% visa guarantee".
Remember: E-8 visa competitions are announced only by official bodies. Never pay in advance for personal cards and do not trust intermediaries who do not have official permits.
*We recommend that you regularly check the website of the Foreign Labor Migration Agency for detailed information and official announcements.
